1. Analyzing the current situation in Lebanon and most importantly the unexpected reaction from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt that referred to Hezbollah as being irresponsible. Why is the situation so different this time? The answer has to be in the balance of powers in the Middle East. By removing Saddam Hussein, USA upset the status quo and removed the first line of defense the Arab world and the Middle East had from Persian domination or at least attempts to dominate the area.

2. Just for laughs. Dealing with provincial columnists. A column in Santa Cruz Sentinel is a classic example of a person that has no clue of the subject, but sure has no problem of exposing himself for a dimwit. At one point the author claims US should have brought up charges against terrorists and pressed for justice in the Taliban Afghanistan. How dense can a person be?

3. Collapse of the Doha round of the WTO spells grim tidings. I am not a scarecrow yet, but every time trade globalization stops or reverses itself temporarily, it spells disaster to millions of people.
